Alex has been a home educating, unschooling mum to her daughter (who was born in 2013 and has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD and diabetes) for nearly two years now. She has been interested in improving education for much longer however, starting (but not completing) mainstream teacher training after graduating in Computer Science from Uni, and then “following her nose” working for a university, becoming a school governor, running nature-based workshops for young people, and researching home and alternative education for many years.
Alex now hosts an education changemaker podcast called Limitless and an online community for school and learning community entrepreneurs called Education Start-Ups. Through these, she is inspiring others to find alternative ways to educate young people and would like, in the future, to fund new startups and research to show that giving families choice and diversity is the best way forward!
On a personal level, Alex loves hiking, nature discovery, music, and understanding how the brain works, and is trying to travel more when she has the time and money!
